摘　　要：文学作品是对社会现象的反映,一部好的作品往往能够反映社会现状,对社会的矛盾和弊端进行揭露,托马斯·哈代的小说很善于对十九世纪社会底层的英国人民的生活进行反映,悲剧性是一个常见主题。本文对托马斯·哈代小说的悲剧性主题进行分析和探讨,旨在加深对他的文学创作风格的理解。Literature is the reflection of social phenomenon, a good work tends to reflect the social status quo and to reveal so-cial contradictions and shortcomings. Thomas Hardy＇s novels are about the at the bottom of society in the 19th century Britainand people＇s life, the tragic is a common theme. In this paper, the tragic theme of Thomas hardy＇s novels were analyzed and dis-cussed, aimed to deepen the understanding of his literary style.
