从犹太宗教伦理角度解码马拉默德的《店员》

摘　　要：伯纳德·马拉默德的小说《店员》是一部典型的犹太文学代表作品,书中围绕犹太人莫里斯一家惨淡经营的杂货店展开描述,不遗余力地展示了犹太人的艰难生存现状。主人公忠于"上帝选民"的犹太身份,坚守犹太人千年来和上帝的契约,默默无闻受苦,用自己的行动最终感化流浪汉弗兰克皈依犹太信仰。该文从犹太宗教伦理角度分析犹太人为何能在受难中坚守犹太信仰、铭记与上帝的"契约",在等待弥赛亚的救赎中完成自我救赎和对他人的救赎。Bernard Malamud＇s The Assistant was regarded as a typical Jewish literature work, which fully discloses the Jews＇ hard living state by describing a grocery store run by Morris. Like all the Jews, Morris identifies himself as ＂God＇s chosen people＂. He sticks to the agreements set by the God and works hard, and behaves himself rightly, which finally converts Frank to Judaism. This paper analyses the Jews＇ religious belief and their sufferings in history and daily life when they save themselves as well as others in their historical Messiah＇s salvation.
