摘　　要：一直以来,亨利·詹姆斯的名作《阿斯彭文稿》因其出色的叙述艺术广受赞誉。其中,主人公姓名缺失的叙述现象耐人寻味。主人公的无名与小说其他人物名姓俱全的现象形成强烈反差。这恐非叙述纰漏,或是作者有意为之。小说中此起彼伏的主人公自称为探索该叙述策略之真意提供了一条线索。它们构成了表达主人公欲望话语的能指,与其真实形象的所指之间存在张力。在对该张力的审视中,自称的真实涵义得以显示,从而折射出无名现象在19世纪后期大众文化产业语境中的警示意义——在道德层面叩问了文化产业繁荣景象下严重物化和异化的社会关系。Henry James＇ The Aspern Papers has long enjoyed a wide reputation for its artful narration. The namelessness of its protagonist is one of the narrative devices that deserves special attention for it contrasts strikingly with the naming of other characters in the novel. It can be attributed to the author＇s intention rather than to a narrative defect. The intention can be revealed by an examination of the tension between the protagonist＇s various self-assumed titles as signifiers of his desire and his real image as signified,which reflects a warning connotation of the namelessness in the context of mass culture industry in the late 19 th century——a moral reproach to the alienated social bond covered by the prosperity of culture industry.
