摘　　要：拉尔夫·艾里森是20世纪美国最有影响力的作家之一,其作品《看不见的人》,为美国黑人文学创作提供了新的思路,被称为美国黑人生活的史诗。其创作中使用的象征手法,贯穿作品始终。象征意蕴揭示当代美国社会中普通人的命运和生活状况。Ralph Ellison is one of the most influential American writers in the 20th century, and one of his works ＂Invisible Man＂ which is called the epic for African Americans offers a new way for African American literature creation. The symbolism used throughout the work. And the symbolic meaning in his work reveals the fates and living conditions of the common people in contemporary American society.
