摘　　要：第二代华裔美国作家任碧莲以清新幽默的笔触描述了《典型的美国佬》中拉尔夫一家移民美国,并逐步被美国主流文化同化,从最开始拒斥美国文化到最后沉迷于美国梦,成为了他们最开始所抵触的所谓的"典型的美国人"。通过分析小说的空间位移、空间实践、空间关系及空间意象等探讨了主人公处理自身文化身份焦虑的过程,旨在从空间的角度上体现拉尔夫一家留美期间文化身份构建过程中所反映的一系列微妙变化,以此探寻解决华裔身份认同危机的出路。The second - generation Chinese American writer Gish Jen gave readers a fresh, humorous description of the Changs＇immigration to the United States in Typical American. During their immigration they were gradually assimilated into the mainstream American culture. Also they indulged in the American dream that they rejected at first and became the so - called ＂typical American＂ that they despised at the very beginning in Typical American. This paper probes into the process of how the Changs＇dealt with their ＂cultural i- dentity anxiety＂ through the analysis of the spatial movement, spatial practice, spatial relations and the spatial images designed to re- fleet some cultural information to show a series of subtle changes in the process of the construction of their own cultural identity so as to explore the ways to solve the identity crisis of Chinese Americans.
