摘　　要：塞勒姆审巫案是美国早期历史的一个重大事件,也是文学关注的历史题材。最近出版的两部历史小说———凯思琳·肯特的《叛道者的女儿》和凯瑟琳·豪的《迪丽芬斯·戴恩的医书》,都对这一历史悲剧进行了想象性的重构,在尊重史实的基础上充分运用小说的虚构特权,将遭受诬陷的受害者们塑造成令人敬仰的女英雄,并对事件进行了具有当代视角的阐释,可供读者经由艺术家的美学再现而回探殖民时期的清教历史,反思历史遗产对今天的意义。The Salem Witch Trial was a major event in the early history of the United States as well as an important topic in literature.The event is restaged in two recent novels,Kathleen Kent's The Heretic's Daughter and Katherine Howe's The Physic Book of Deliverance Dane,in which the case is imaginatively represented and the persecuted are recreated not as mere victims but as heroines through fictionalization based on scanty historical documents.The authors'aesthetic representations of the historical trial from today's perspective provide vivid episodes of the Puritan colonial period as well as new perceptions of this piece of disreputable historical heritage.
