Objective In order to investigate the variations of Th22 and IL-22 in peripheral blood of the patients with different severity atopic dermatitis (AD) and explore their significances. Methods The percentage of Th22 cells in peripheral blood of patients with AD was detected by flow cytometry, the levels of IL-22 were detected by enzyme-linked immuno sorbent assay (ELISA). Meanwhile, healthy adults were taken as controls. Results The percentage of Th22 cells and the level of IL-22 were increased in patients with mild and moderate AD compared with those in healthy controls (P〈0.05). The percentage of Th22 cells and the level of IL-22 were significantly higher in patients with severe AD than those in healthy controls (P〈0.01). The percentage of Th22 cells and the level of IL-22 was higher in patients with severe AD compared with those in patients with mild AD (P〈0.05). The percentage of Th22 cells and the level of IL-22 were higher in patients with severe AD compared with theose in patients with moderate AD (P〈0.05). Conclusion Th22 cells radio and IL-22 level are positively correlated with the severity of AD.
