海明威的现代主义艺术——以《一个干净明亮的地方》为例

摘　　要：结合现代主义文学的时代特点,以海明威早期短篇小说《一个干净明亮的地方》为例,从存在主义、象征主义、意识流等现代主义流派分支的视角出发,指出海明威的作品具有较强的现代主义倾向。在小说中,海明威通过对"虚无"主题的描绘,表现他对社会环境与个人存在的关注;他灵活运用意识流手法,通过增加读者与小说人物内心思绪的互动,进一步加深"虚无"的主题;同时,他通过频繁出现的象征意象烘托着整个时代的社会主题。可见,现代主义艺术对于深入理解海明威的作品而言至关重要。Based on the time background of modernist literature’ and with a case study of Hemingway’s earlyshort story “A Clean’ Well-lighted Place” from the perspectives of existentialism’ stream of consciousness andsymbolism’ this essay points out that Hemingway’s writings have strong features of modernism. In the shortstory’ Hemingway expressed his concern about the society and human existence through the depiction ofnihilism. The streams of consciousness writing technique and the inner interactions between the readers and thecharacters strengthened the theme of nihilism. The symbolic images frequenting the story also highlighted thesocial theme throughout the age. Modernism is vitally importance to a deep understanding of Hemingway’sworks.
