From the late Qing Dynasty to the early Republic of China, the communication and interaction of agricultural economy between Huizhou area and Zhejiang was reflected in two aspects. On the one hand, the people in the neighboring areas were engaged in agricultural production activities to the other, and a large number of people in Huizhou went into business in Hangzhou and other cities. On the other hand, the output of agricultural products between the two regions was more common. The motivation of agricultural economic exchanges between the two regions lies in the promotion of Huizhou merchants, adjacent geographic location, role of transportation hub and so on. Those not only adjust the agricultural products supply and demand between the two regions, but also promote the spread of agricultural technology and the development and utilization of resources, increase the income of farmers in Huizhou. Through the investigation of the case,we found that the role of government was very limited in the process of modern agricultural economic change and regional interaction, but farmers could take the initiative to adapt to the market, according to the regional differences in resource endowments, that reflected the tenacious vitality of the traditional small-scale peasant economy.
