Objective To explore the clinical effects of progressive rehabilitation gymnastics on postoperative rehabilitation of breast cancer patients after radical masteetomy. Methods The breast cancer patients admitted to Xijing Hospital, The Fourth Military Medical University were enrolled. The 182 patients hospitalized between June 2013 and June 2014 were assigned to the control group and given the conventional nursing. The 180 patients hospitalized between July 2014 and March 2015 were assigned to the observation group and given progressive rehabilitation gymnastics. Upper extremity edema, subcutaneous hydrops, range of motion (ROM) and upper extremity functions were analyzed to evaluate the effects of rehabilitation gymnastics. Results The incidences of upper extremity edema and subcutaneous hydrops were significantly lower in the observation group than those in the control group, and the score of ROM and upper extremity functions were much better ( P 〈 0.05). Conclusion Progressive rehabilitation gymnastics could significantly improve the upper extremity functions and promote the recovery of limb functions in the breast cancer patients after radical mastectomy.
