论《了不起的盖茨比》中的作者标记选择和交际意图——从句法结构和短语频数统计谈起  

A Study on Marked Choices and Communicative Intentions in The Great Gatsbyfrom the Perspective of Syntactic Structures and Frequency Count of Phrase Structures

摘　　要：随机抽取菲茨杰拉德的《了不起的盖茨比》一文中5段承载"作者意图"的关键段落和5段相对应的"非标记"段落,在句法上特别是对短语结构的主要成分的频数进行统计,发现两组段存在显著不同,以此证实菲茨杰拉德在某种程度上运用了标记结构。同时,文章从交际意图视角提出作者的标记选择不仅是社会性的,也有心理上的动机。By making analysis of randomly-chosen paragraphs throughout the novel The Great Gatsby written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, we chose five narrative passages which we define as unmarked passages and five paragraphs which literary critics identify as ＂carrying the author＇s message＂. Through comparisons on a frequency count of the major components of phrase structures in paired paragraphs？ we found that Fitz-gerald marks the crucial narrative passages in The Great Gatsby by using syntactic structures which are demonstrably different from the typical narrative passages as a whole. And from the perspective of commu-nicative intentions？ we found that marked choices in the novel are both socially and psychologically motiva-ted.
