Objective: To analyze the potential failure causes of pressure sores in neurosurgery prone position surgery; to use FMEA quality improvement methods to strengthen the implementation of the preventive measures, to reduce pressure sore incidence, to improve the quality of patients'life, to reduce medical disputes and to continuously improve the quality of nursing in operation room. Methods :40 cases of patients with prone position in Department of neurosurgery from Janu- ary to December, 2014 were selected as the control group, treated with the routine nursing methods. 45 eases of patients with prone position in Department of neurosurgery from January, 2015 to March, 2016 iwere selected as the observation group, treated with FMEA. The medical risk crisis, nurses'job satisfaction and patient satisfaction of the two groups were compared. Results : After using the FMEA tool, the risk of medical crisis declined from 970.56 in the control group to a- bout 129.06 in the experimental group, The incidence of pressure sores in neurosurgery prone position surgery decreased from 12.5% to 0 ; nurses work satisfaction increased from 73.5% to 94.4% ; patient satisfaction increased from 94.2% to 99.1%. Conclusion:The use of FMEA tools can significantly lower the incidence of pressure sores in neurosurgery prone position surgery and ensure the safety of surgical patients.
