In Sui and Tang Dynasties, the traditional Chinese Double Seventh Festival was introduced into Japan, where it wit-nessed the process of being cast off, lost and finally supplemented. Meanwhile,by fusing with the local Japanese culture and customs, the festival has gradually evolved into what Tanabata is today. In the process of assimilation, evolution and fusion of the festival, with the aim at retaining their own system and value standards, the Japanese succeeded in transforming it into their own traditional culture with Japanese characteristics, and saving the several big cities such as Sendai from the prevalent economic crisis as well. The fact that Chinese Double Seventh Festival has been spread and inherited in Japan,is closely connected with the truth that Japan, economically, politically and culturally as well, has approval of and demand for Chinese Double Seventh culture.
