Ammonium dinitramide (ADN) is a non-toxic and high specific impulse monopropellant. Efficiently catalytic decomposition of ADN aqueous solutions is critical for starting-up the thruster and producing the steady thrust. Pd-Zn bimetallic catalysts with the different mass ratio (10 : 0.2, 10 : 1 , 10 : 5 ) were prepared by impregnation method. The decomposition kinetics and reaction mechanics were characterized by TGA-DTA and MS- online. TEM was employed to investigate the relevant morphology of catalyst. The experimental results show that the decomposition of ADN can be completed in one step over the Pd-Zn/Al2O3 bimetallic catalysts, and the addition of minute quantities of Zn can improve the stability and dispersion of Pd over Al2O3. The catalyst with the mass ratio of Pd-Zn 10 : 0.2 has good activity and stability, over which the decomposition product of ADN is shifted to higher content of N2.
