Postsecularism is a poststructuralist restructuring of the religious discourse that Western sociology commits to review and criticize instrumental reason and secular culture. Postsecularism formulates a new mode of spiritu ality, i.e. secular spirituality, by peeling off the institutional husk of religion and so extracting spirituality as its core, while on the other hand, laying much emphasis on secularizing or immanentizing the spirituality. As a two-way deconstruction of secularism and religion, secular spirituality could help postsecularism maximize religion's ethicization of both individuals and society while averting the risk of religious fanaticism and extremism. The paper tends to present a general survey of the representative arguments of postsecularism by introducing its prohlematization, philosophical nature, theoretical core and value, aiming to exhibit the great potential of this new humanistic discourse in anatomizing and criticizing contemporary Western culture.
