Taking Macheng of Hubei as an research case, this paper discussed the association of traffic driving tourism development with the SPSS method, then studied the causal relationship between traffic and tourism by Granger Causality Test, revealed the process, the mechanism and the law of action of small-medium cities in Mountain district. The results showed that there were significant correlations with traffic and tourism. There was a one-way causal relation with less than 10% significance level from LNJR to LNLR, from LNLS to LNJR and from LNJL to LNLS. Furthermore, the increase of transport accessibility caused the tourism trips grows at each phase and the increase of traffic miles caused the tourism revenue grows, so traffic had a driving effective to tourism development of small-medium cities in Mountain district. And suggestions are raised that taking advantage of traffic strengths of small-medium cities in Mountain district during the process of tourism, such as traffic accessibility and the coordination degree of traffic, strengthening of construction in corollary facilities, optimizing of tourism products development and intensifying of tourism marketing for line-strip.
