Objective To explore the application effect of a new type of booster-assisted nasal feeder, which is more labor-saving and convenient, in patients with long-term nasal feeding. Methods Seventy-three patients with nasal feeding and enteral nutrition were divided randomly into observation group and control group. Patients in the control group were fed with 50 ml injectors, while patients in the observation group were injected by the new type of booster-assisted nasal feeder. Incidence rates of complications, VAS scores of the caregivers and daily time consumption on nasal feeding of the two groups were compared. Results Comparison of incidence rates of complications between the two groups showed no statistical significance (P〉0.05). VAS scores of caregivers in the observation group were (0.03±0.16) points, with daily time consumption on nasal feeding (53.55±7.65) min, which were lower than those in the control group (1.94±0.91) points and (76.77±5.93) min (t=12.73, 14.41;P〈0.01).Conclusions Using this new type of booster-assisted nasal feeder in patients with long-term nasal feeding can effectively shorten feeding time and reduce the caregiver's pain and labor, which has made it more acceptable by the caregivers, without increasing incidence rate of complications.
