摘　　要：本文采用文本细读的方法,分析了莱辛的短篇小说《到十九号房间》中的空间意象。主人公苏珊对独立空间的寻求经历了从家里到外面,从近到远的过程。从花园洋房里的"妈妈房间"到汤森小姐的旅店,从威尔士的野外到第十九号房间,苏珊对空间的寻求构成了小说的主要叙事线索。最终苏珊没能找到一个容纳身心的空间所在,也就导致了她走向自杀的悲剧结局。同时小说中出现的空间意象也有着存在主义的意义,苏珊对空间的寻求也是对自我身份、对精神自由的寻求之旅。With the method of close reading, the essay is to analyze the space images in Doris Lessing＇s short story, To the Room 19. The protagonist Susan＇s quest of space experiences the sequence from home to outside, from near to far. From ＂Mother＇ s Room＂ in the gardened house to Miss Townsend＇ s hotel, from the mountain-side of Wales to the room 19, Susan＇s quest of space constitutes the main line of narration. Finally Susan could not find a space for her body and sole, which leads to the tragedy of suicide. Meanwhile, the space images in the novel also have the significance in existentialism. Susan＇s quest of space is also the quest of self identity and the quest of spiritual freedom.
