摘　　要：伊丽莎白·盖斯凯尔在《克兰福镇》中对人物服饰进行了着力描写,尤其是帽子这一文化符号在作品中频繁出现。小说中以玛蒂为代表的女性人物对服饰的复杂感情和态度变化深刻反映了英国维多利亚时代中上阶层女性生活艰辛的真实状况。处于社会变革时期的维多利亚女性在面对经济社会困境的同时也为维护传统道德付出了积极的努力。Elizabeth Gaskell gives forceful descriptions of Clothing in Cranford, especially the cultural symbol of hat frequently occurs in the novel.The complicated feeling and changing attitude of female characters represented by Matty deeply reflect the hard living status of Victoria women. In the period of social changes,Victorian women had to face economical and social predicaments; at the same time they also made active efforts in maintaining traditional morals.
