摘　　要：作为男性气概书写的一部典型文本，艾利克斯·哈里的《根》向我们展现了18世纪中叶非洲西部地区的男性气概状貌，不仅再现了男性气概被普遍重视的原因、建构方式以及男性气概训练的效果，同时还揭示了男性气概实践过程中出现的问题，有利于人们辩证地看待男性气概在人类生存和发展过程中的功过得失。该作在男性气概书写过程中所展现的丰富性和复杂性，对于学者们打破社会学权力关系研究范式的局限性、从历史唯物主义的角度重新审视和定义男性气概，对于当今男性研究领域，也具有一定的学术价值。As a typical novel of manhood writing, Alex Haley＇s Roots demonstrates the manhood configuration in mid-18th century West Africa. The book does not only exhibit the reason why manhood is universally emphasized, its constructing methods, and the effects of manhood training, but also discloses the problems arising during its practice, which can promote people to examine the merits and demerits of manhood in human existence and development in a dialectical way. As for the field of men＇s studies, the richness and complexity of manhood exhibited in this huge book may prove to be of great academic value for scholars to break the limitations of power relationship paradigm upheld by sociology and redefine manhood from a historical materialist point of view.
