As former CEO Howard Schultz handed over the keys to the store that had been opened 35 years ago to Kevin Johnson, he was smiling, but he may not have been so cool-headed on the inside. Will Starbucks be able to break out of its current bottleneck?The lessons from 2007's change of leadership, when the company nearly went off the rails and trading fell with stocks falling 42%, under the leadership of Jim Donald,are still fresh in the minds of management. Schultz also didn't hesitate to reestablish control in 2000.
