摘　　要：《佛山忠义乡志》是一部地域单位最小的方志,也是一部乡人自发编纂的方志,具有极高的学术价值,先进的思想认知。它率先提出国人的宪政梦,对晚清维新变法、洋务运动、义和团之乱、庚子之变等作了客观的评价。其民生为重的宗旨,民意为先的诉求,教育立人的思想,都带有浓郁的启蒙色彩,反映了时代的潮流和趋势。它不仅是研究佛山历史文化的宝贵资料,而且是明清岭南思想文化演变的真实记录,从一个侧面揭示出广东成为近代民主主义思潮策源地的原因。As the smallest unit in local Chronicles, the book of Foshan Zhongyi Local Chronicles is compiled spontaneously by countryman with high academic value and advanced thoughtful recognition. It firstly put forward the constitutional dream of the people, and made an objective evaluation on a series reforms and changes happened in the late Qing dynasty. It reflected the trend of the times with a clear enlightenment on the purpose of people’s livelihood, public opinion as the first priority, mind of education. It is not only a valuable research on the history and culture of Foshan, but also a true record of the evolution of Lingnan’s thought and culture in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, revealing the reasons why Guangdong is the original source of modern democratic thought
