Tchou Su's Career at National Taiwan University

摘　　要：朱洗于1946年8月出任国立台湾大学动物学系首任系主任,1949年元月离台。朱洗在台大期间有不少成就,如创办《台湾动物学报》,完成《维他命与人类之健康》一书,指导动物系第一位毕业生袁柏伟完成关于"蛙卵水份的增加和成熟的关系"之学士论文等。惜少为科学史研究者言及。本文旨在补充目前有关朱洗研究之不足。Tchou Su（1900—1962） was a famous biologist and popular science writer in modern China. He went to France to enroll in a work-study programme in 1920, and received the ＂Doctorat d＇Etat＂ degree in 1931. He returned to China in 1932 to take up research and writing as his lifetime work. In November 1945, after the surrender of Japan to Allies, National Taiwan University（NTU） was established. He was the founding head of the Department of Zoology since August of 1946. He left for Shanghai during the semester break in January 1949, and was not back to Taipei ever since. During his stay at NTU, Dr. Tchou had many achievements, such as establishing the journal Acta Zoologica Taiwanica, completing the book ＂Vitamins and Human Health＂ and instructing Yuan Bowei, the first undergraduate student of the Department of Zoology, to complete the study on the relationship between increasing water contents and maturation of frog eggs for the BS thesis. Unfortunately, these achievements have rarely been mentioned by researchers in the history of Chinese science. This paper was written to supplement the deficiency.
