摘　　要：《汤豪舍》这是瓦格纳创作中期的作品，取材自中世纪德国传说中的诗人、作曲家兼歌手汤豪舍（Tannhaiuser）与爱神维纳斯纵情声色，以及瓦尔特堡歌唱比赛（the Wartburg Song Contest）的故事。剧情主要讨论男主角在圣洁的爱与荒淫的欲之间的挣扎，也谈到伟大爱情的救赎性，后者更是瓦格纳好几出乐剧的主题。Wagner wrote 13 opera works throughout his life, but he thought the first 3 immature 'student works,' so they were never performed at the Bayreuth Festival. This present essay and the last two discuss Wagner's music dramas, but they cover only 10 works which have been performed at Bayreuth, known as the 'Bayreuth Canon.' This article is a general introduction to the six non-Ring works, not following their premiere times but in the order of importance in the opera field and the personal preference of the author.
