The waste heat from power generation is often not enough for heating of biogas plant in cold season of Northwest region. In this paper, taking the biogas plant in Huazhuang of Lanzhou as example, the theoretical heat demand of each part of biogas system were calculated, and the economic efficiency of two kinds of auxiliary heating(Solar heat and biogas boiler) were analyzed. The result showed that, when the system kept the temperature at 52℃ in summer, and 37℃ in other seasons, the initial investment ratio of two auxiliary heating was 3. 75∶ 1. The net present value of solar auxiliary heating was 43. 9% higher. Considering the relevant national policy, economic benefits, environmental benefits and the northwest sunny condition, etc, solar heat collectors was preferred to choose as auxiliary heating mode for biogas project
