Objective: To observe the clinical curative effect of scalpel therapy in preventing residual pain after percutaneous vertebroplasty. Methods:Selected 80 senile osteoporotic compression fracture patients, and divided theminto two groups,40 cases in each. The control group was given percutaneous vertebroplasty, while the treatment group was given scalpel therapy on the pain area of lumbar spinal cord based on the treatment of the control group. Evaluated pain and lumbar spinal cord function of the patients with visual analogue scale(VAS) and oswestry disability index(ODI) before and after operation. Results:Followup for six months, compared VAS and ODI of both groups after one week and one month of operation with those before treatment, differences being significant(P0.05). After treatment, compared VAS and ODI of the treatment group after one week and one month of operation with those of the control group, differences being significant(P0.01). After six months of treatment, compared the treatment group with the control group, the differences had no significant(P〉0.05). Conclusion:Scalpel therapy can relieve residual pain on lumbar spinal cord of patients that received percutaneous vertebroplasty, and improve lumbar spinal cord function of patients, which is simple, effective, safe and economic.
