Objective: To investigate the change rules of amplitude integrated electroencephalogram( EEG) in preterm infants during brain development and its clinical significance. Methods: 120 cases of preterm infants in different gestational age were selected and then changes of a EEG spectrum of different gestational age in preterm infants were monitored by the cerebral function monitor instrument with the analysis of the variation in a EEG indicators in the process of brain development of premature infants. Results: The probability of a EEG background continuity and sleep wake cycle increased with the increase of gestational age. The probabilities of preterm infants belonging to gestational age more than34 weeks of gestational age were significantly higher than those in other preterm infants( P 0. 05). with the increase of amplitude of brain waves under the boundary, the gestational age increased meanwhile with the bandwidth reduction. Conclusions: The amplitude and integration of electroencephalogram in the brain development of preterm infants with different gestational age have some certain change rules, which provides a reliable scientific basis for clinical diagnosis of brain development in premature infants.
