摘　　要：本文旨在运用认知语言学中的意象图式理论对介词in进行分析,在以图式表征为依据的基础上,研究介词in的初始意义所体现的容器图式与其映射意义之间的联系。本文从认知语言学的角度出发,尝试探讨意象图式理论在词义延伸中的作用,希望能为英语学习者正确理解英语介词的多种意义、掌握其不同的用法提供一种全新的方法。This paper is intended to analyze the preposition ' in' by using image schema theory in cognitive linguistics,and to look into the connection between container schema reflected by the original meaning of the preposition ' in' and its meaning extensions. This paper,from the perspective of cognitive linguistics,tries to discuss how Image Schema Theory can lead English language learners to a good command of the various meanings and usages of the prepositions in English.
