Navigation in Niuzhuang during the Ming and Qing Dynasties: Linking Kaiyuan to the North and Minyue( Fujian and Guangdong) to the South

摘  要:牛庄航运历史悠久,明代牛庄码头一度成为辽东海运物资的储运地。清初,牛庄码头迎来新的发展机遇,逐步走向繁荣。清中期后,由于辽河下游的淤塞和改道,牛庄码头的功能逐渐褪去,史料中"牛庄"的含义也发生了改变,但其在沟通南北海运及河运过程中曾经发挥过的重要作用仍值得探索。Niuzhuang navigation had a long history. In the Ming Dynasty, Niuzhuang Port was once the logistic base of sea cargoes in Liaodong. At the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, Niuzhuang became a prosperous port. After the mid - Qing Dynas-ty ,Niuzhuang Port declined because of the siltation and re - channeling of waterways in the lower reaches of the Liao River. Despite the eventual decline, Niuzhuang navigation had played important roles in connecting the sea and river transportation between North China and South China, and this is worth studying.
