摘　　要：向后看的"南方史观"是大部分美国南方作家作品的重要特征之一。作为一名出生于美国南方的当代著名作家,理查德·福特拒绝被贴上"南方作家"的标签。其系列自传体小说第一部《体育记者》的主人公弗兰克·巴斯克姆虽然生于南方,却因不愿面对痛苦的过往历史,放弃了小说写作,转行做了体育记者。表面上看来,巴斯克姆似乎已经成功地挣脱了南方思想的羁绊,然而通过意识流手段的使用,福特使读者们了解到他的主人公无时无刻不在回顾过去,这种向后看的历史观体现了南方思想在理查德·福特身上所烙下的难以磨灭的创作印记。A retrospective view of history is one of the major features of American southern literature.As a southern-born American novelist,Richard Ford denies being labeled as a'southern writer'.In his first autobiographical novel Sportswriter,the southern-born protagonist Frank Bascombe takes up sports writing by giving up novel creation in attempt to shake off the influence of his painful past.However,his frequent recalling of the past events in his life reveals his retrospective view of history.Through his autobiographical protagonist the imprint of southern thought on Richard Ford can be clearly discerned.
