摘　　要：本文讨论了唐·德里罗小说《大都会》中车的空间意象,认为通过表现主人公埃里克豪车的三个特征:冷漠无情的庞然大物、虚拟/虚幻的封闭空间、"车轮上的国家"的隐喻,小说不仅塑造了丰满立体的人物形象,而且对当前的美国社会进行了反思。虽然这些思考或许没有完全触及问题的根本,但体现了作者深切的人文关怀和忧患意识。Focusing on the ＂tremendous brutal thing＂, the ＂virtual-illusory space＂ and the ＂Country on Wheels＂, this paper analyzes the space image of limousine in Don DeLiUo＇s Cosmopolis to argue that DeLillo, by creating the complex character of Eric Packer and seeking to pinpoint the crux of current American society, demonstrates in this novel his humanistic concerns and sense of crisis.
