摘　　要：阿特伍德创作于20世纪80年代的两部小说《使女的故事》与《猫眼》,虽然风格与内容迥异,但都隐含了对于"时间"这一命题的思考。《使女的故事》中的女主人公被囚于"现在",试图通过"对话"的方式为自己寻得释放;《猫眼》中的科迪莉亚则被禁在"过去",一切寻找终将徒然。事实上,阿特伍德的时间观一方面固然是她自身创作过程中的一个主题,另一方面也是对加拿大在上世纪后期后现代主义思潮中的时间观的一个回应,由此可以看出阿特伍德的作品所打上的加拿大语境与当代哲学思潮的双重烙印。Margaret Atwood＇ s two novels--The Handmaid＇s Tale and Cat＇s Eye, written in the 1980s, despite differences in their styles and plots, share a common theme ： time. The protagonist of The Handmaid＇ s Tale is incommunicado in the prison of ＂now＂ and she tries to find her way of release by talking to someone else. Cordelia in Cat＇ s Eye is imprisoned in ＂the past＂ and there＇ s no hope to escape. On one hand, the theme of time in these two novels is a result of Atwood＇ s own experience when her career as a writer entered its third decade ; on the other hand, the theme is also a response to Canadian postmodernism in the late 20th -century. It can be concluded that Atwood writes in Canadian contexts and is also influenced by contemporary western postmodernism.
