文学翻译中的民族形象重构:“中国叙事”与“文化回译”

摘　　要：世界诸多民族的形成与发展历史表明,作为文化特殊表述形式的翻译,往往在这一民族建构及发展的过程中发挥着不可或缺的作用。本文以《文学翻译与民族建构》一书所探讨的主题为出发点,围绕翻译与民族形象建构或重构、形象学与翻译研究以及中国叙事作品所涉"中国形象"的具体内涵、"翻译与形象建构"之关系以及《大地》中译的"文化回译"特质等重点问题展开讨论与理论阐发,以期对相关课题的深入研究有所促进。As a special form of cultural representation, translation has been playing a very important role in the process of national image construction and development. Keeping this crucial role within its purview, this paper discusses the central theme of Liang Zhifang's newly published Literary Translation and Nation Building, reexamining the concepts of translation-enabled nation building and national image reconstruction, and exploring issues pertaining to what the notion of "China image" connotes, how this image has been and can be constructed/reconstructed in and through translation, and how significant the Chinese translation of Pearl Buck's China narrative, The Good Earth, can serve as a form of "cultural back-translation." By reflecting on these issues, the paper hopes to shed fresh light on the study of the above-mentioned topics within the contexts of the fields concerned.
