Objective To investigate the joint associations of dietary pattern and TV viewing in relation to cardiovascular disease( CVD) risk factors. Methods 650 in patients were selected in the survey. Dietary intake during the past year was investigated by a food frequency questionnaire. Dietary patterns were identified by exploratory factor analysis using a standard principal component analysis method. All participants reported their time spend in viewing TV every day. ORs and 95% CIs for the joint associations of dietary pattern and television viewing in relation to CVD risk factors were estimated by logistic model. Results As compare to the health dietary pattern, participants who followed the west pattern had a higher risk for abdominal obesity and low HDL,while Individuals who followed traditional pattern had a higher risk for abdominal obesity and hypertension. When compared with counterpart group, the individuals whose TV time more than 7 h/week had a higher risk for hypertension and elevated triglyceride. The lowest risk group participants had the lowest OR for prevalence of abdominal obesity, hypertension, elevated total cholesterol, and low HDL. Conclusion Both healthy pattern and less TV time are associated with reduced CVD risk factor.
