摘　　要：Lindo Jong's image has been interpreted from different perspectives. An androgynous reading of Lindo is worth notice. The first section explores her masculinity. While the second section probes her adherence to femininity. The last section concludes that Amy Tan's ideal of androgyny is revealed in her depiction of Lindo's inner struggle concerning her androgynous nature and her quest for what kind of gender role she should embrace.Lindo Jong＇s image has been interpreted from different perspectives.
