摘　　要：面对20世纪50年代台湾岛内人口快速增长的态势,熟谙中国历史,尊重专家意见,从迁台初期即开始全盘擘画台湾农业发展蓝图的蒋梦麟未雨绸缪,基于人口快速增长与资源一定时期内恒定之间的必然矛盾,大胆提出节制生育的重要性和紧迫性,并顶住舆论压力,通过公开撰文、举行记者招待会等多种形式向社会各界阐释说明,并以其个人声望和农复会为依托,在全台展开计划生育行动,从而使台湾避免了因人口过度膨胀所导致的严峻社会危机。其有关人口节育的思考和观点某种程度上也是中国人口思想史重要而珍贵的组成部分。Faced with rapid population growth of Taiwan in the 1950 s,being familiar with Chinese history and respecting for the views of experts,Jing Menglin Publicized the importance and urgency for birth control,based on the inevitable conflict between population growth and resource in constant period of time,who had begun to arrange a comprehensive blueprint for the development of agriculture since the early move to Taiwan. What ＇s more,he explained to the community through writing papers,holding press conference and other forms. By holding to his personal prestige and Rural Reconstruction,he took the expand family planning actions in Taiwan so as to avoid making severe social crisis caused by excessive expansion population in Taiwan. Among his thoughts and opinions,those about birth control in population,to some extent,are also the important and valuable part in the thought history of Chinese people.
