This study aims to explore how alexithymia mediates between college students' mobile phone ad- diction tendency and interpersonal adaptability, by testing 472 college students with the Mobile Phone Addiction Tendency Scale (MPATS), the College Students Interpersonal Adaptability Inventory (CSIAI) and the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS- 20). The results show the following: (1) The college students' mobile phone addic- tion tendency was significantly negatively correlated with their interpersonal adaptability, and significantly posi- tively correlated with their alexithymia; their alexithymia was significantly negatively correlated with their interper- sonal adaptability; and (2) their mobile phone addiction tendency had an insignificantly direct effect on their in- terpersonal adaptability, and a significandy indirect effect on their interpersonal adaptability through their alexi- thymia. The study concludes that college students' alexithymia completely mediates between their mobile phone addiction tendency and their interpersonal adaptability.
