摘　　要：本文旨在探讨现代与后现代语境下P.D.詹姆斯侦探小说的特色与创新。她的创新以继承传统为基础,师法维多利亚时代以降某些英国小说家在探讨社会问题的作品中植入神秘的犯罪案件以吸引读者的技巧。她的侦探小说实为社会问题小说,犯罪—探罪只是名义上的主题。在视侦探小说写作与阅读为游戏的英国经典派炙手可热之际,她创造性地引领社会派侦探小说的复苏,厥功甚伟。无论以"主流文学"还是侦探小说的标准审视,她在主题嵌入、环境烘托、情节铺陈、以心理现实主义为依据的人物塑造方面均有不俗的独到贡献。Phyllis Dorothy James imbued innovative elements into her works to replenish the classical detective fiction that relates crimes and their solutions in an apolitical, asocial, and even amoral manner. James cherished and inherited the Victorian literary tradition established by Charles Dickens, Wilkie Collins and others, exposing and exploring various social issues such as terrorism and environmental protection. To a certain extent, in a Jamesian novel the commitment of a crime and its solution is merely the nominal theme to whet the reader＇s interest. Her works are, above all, problem novels depicting situations of collective concerns rather than milieus of interpersonal conflicts. In other words, she creatively revived the ＂social school＂ of the detective fiction established by early practitioners. Her delicately embedded theme, colorful atmosphere, crafty plot, and above all, psycho-realist characterization are intelligent and seminal, by criteria of the so-called ＂mainstream literature＂ or by standards of the detective fiction.
