In order to develop the application of fiber Bragg grating in the measurement of temperature and strain in space environment,it is necessary to study the performance of fiber Bragg grating in space radiation environment. Based on the color center model, the influence of ionizing radiation on the transmission performance of fiber Bragg grating is analyzed theoretically. A^(60) Co-γ radiation source was used to study the ionization radiation experiment with a total dose of 1. 01 × 10~6 rad for two Ge-doped single-mode fiber Bragg gratings with center wavelengths of 825 nm and 835 nm. The experimental results show that with the increase of irradiation dose, the peak wavelength of fiber Bragg grating reflector redshift phenomenon, the grating refractive index increases. After the total dose of 1. 01 × 10~6 rad irradiation, the peak wavelengths of the Bragg center wavelengths of 825 nm and 835 nm were increased by 0. 070 62 nm and 0. 074 15 nm,respectively. The experimental results are in agreement with the relationship between the effective refractive index of the grating and the radiation dose. The experimental results provide a data basis for the application of fiber Bragg gratings in space ambient temperature and strain measurement.
