摘　　要：文章分析了礼和洋行大楼历史与艺术价值的研究和更新过程,指出礼和洋行大楼的前世今生是文化特征和生活方式百年来变迁的写照,每个时代的空间类型是一个时代社会背景下的文化与建造技术的选择。该项目的更新从学者的严谨研究,到修缮工程设计的突破和新功能植入的空间打造,都是基于文化内涵的空间价值重塑的过程。The article traces the process of researching and regenerating historical and artistic value of the Carlowitz ＆ Co. Building, pointing out that the past and the present of the building represents the transformation of cultural identity and life style over the last century, and spatial topology is determined by the culture of construction technology at the time. From scholarly rigorous research to breakthrough in restoration method and adaption of the building＇s new function, this regeneration project can be read as a process of reconstructing spatial value in terms of culture significance.
