摘　　要：中国各类公共科学文化服务设施通常称为科技馆、科学技术博物馆或是科学中心,这三种不同称谓的内涵有待厘清。作者通过对＂科学中心＂的来源及其在不同语境下的意义进行分析和阐释,并指出＂科学中心＂的本质应当是一座城市的公共科学中心。All kinds of public scientific and cultural facilities in China are usually referred to as science and technology museums, museums of science and industry or science-technology centers. The meaning of these three terms needs to be clarified. The author analyzes and interprets the source of a science-technology center and its significance in different contexts. And on this basis, the author points out that the essence of a science-technology center should be a public science center of a city.
