摘 要:在古代,小说一直是不入流的稗官野史,不被人们重视。到了晚清,梁启超发起"文界革命"和"小说界革命",大力倡导"新小说",使人们对小说的启蒙、教化、新民等功能有了新的认识,在全社会掀起了一股小说创作热潮。由此,小说成为一种十分重要的文体,逐步跃居诗歌、散文和戏剧之上,成为最受世人瞩目的文学形式。显然,梁启超对小说作用的反复强调、对小说理论的不断拓展、对小说翻译的积极实践、对小说刊物的大力支持、对小说创作的身体力行等,不仅提升了小说在文学乃至社会中的地位,使小说从边缘走向了中心,而且拓宽了小说的研究空间,促进了小说的现代转型,使中国小说走上了繁荣发展的道路。In ancient times, the fiction was always the unofficial history and was not taken seriously by people. In the late Qing Dynasty, Liang Qichao initiated u Literary Revolutionand u Fiction Revolution, and promo-ted uNew Fictionvigorously, which enabled people to have a new understanding for the fictional functions of enlightenment, education, and new citizenship. Then, it raised an upsurge of creative writing in the whole so-ciety. As a result, the fiction gradually overtook the poetry, prose and drama. Also, it became a very important style, even the most conspicuous literary form. Liang Qichao elaborated on the role of fiction, persistently probed into the fiction theory, zealously practiced fiction translation, vigorously backed up fiction periodicals, and earnestly practiced fiction creation. All these have not only enhanced the status of fiction in literature and society, but also staged the fiction from the edge to the center. Furthermore, it broadens the research space of the fiction, promotes the transformation of modem fiction, and makes the Chinese fiction embark on the road of prosperity and development.
