摘　　要：It is undoubted that both Walt Whitman and Emily Dickinson made great contribution to American romanticism. They were regarded as pioneers in the history of American literature because of their new writing styles which express uniquely American ideas. Both of them made great accomplishments in American poetry. However, the two poets also differentiated in many aspects. For example, their living backgrounds, writing techniques and themes. The two giants presented their own unique style of writing.
