As two literary styles originated from Han Dynasty,Fu and Song have several aspects in common. In ancient times,Song could be used as the phonetic loan character of another Song which means chanting, while Fu is also considered"odes by chanting without singing",hence Fu is often used to refer to Song. Besides, another cause of the alternative use of Song and Fu is the strengthened function of Fu to eulogize, after the Eastern Han Dynasty. Apart from the particular reference to Fu,"Fusong"as a regular word has two implications: general reference to the verse, and the specific reference to Fu and Song. What leads to the conjunction of Fu and Song as"Fu-song"is that both of them have the function of eulogizing,as well as their homogeneous literary forms and similar status in classical Chinese literature.
