Compared with the modification of activated carbon by alkalis in separation of CO2/CH4,fewer studies on treatments by acids have been reported, especially by organic acids.Several different acids were utilized to modify the activated carbon.N2adsorption/desorption isotherms,FT-IR,SEM and XRD were adopted to describe the properties of the samples.Adsorption isotherms of CO2and CH4on the raw and the modified samples were measured at 25℃.The results showed that the specific surface area and pore volume varied and the micropore distributed intensively after the modification. The adsorption capacity of CO2and separation effect of CO2/CH4on organic acids modified activated carbons were better than that on inorganic acids modified samples, especially on the sample modified by acetic acid.Adsorption of CO2on acids modified activated carbons was physisorption and could be desorbed easily. The modification of activated carbon by acids could be a feasible method to be used in adsorption and separation of CO2/CH4mixture.
