Objective To observe the protein expression of Bax and Bcl 2 in hypertrophic scars and normal skins in order to explore their influences on hypertrophic scar formation.?Methods The expression intensity and distribution of Bax and Bcl 2 were detected with immunohistochemistry and pathological methods in 8 cases of hypertrophic scars and 8 cases of normal skins which were obtained from patients in our hospital.?Results In normal skin, Bax was mainly located in the cytoplasms of epidermal basal cells and some fibroblasts. Bcl 2 was mostly distributed in epidermal basal cells. In hypertrophic scars, the positive cellular ratio of Bax was significantly reduced (P<0.05). The protein particles were sited in epidermal keratinocytes. The cells which could express Bcl 2 protein were chiefly epidermal cells and some fibroblasts. The expression ratio of Bcl 2 was notably elevated in comparison with normal skin(P<0.05).?Conclusion The formation of hypertrophic scars might be associated with the increment of Bcl 2 contents and the reduction of Bax expression which lead to the inhibition of reparative cell apoptosis.
