摘 要:首先以英国文学中罕见的佛菩萨主人公的形象剖析为突破口,分析了主人公马洛三种手印的外相与佛菩萨内在宽容的心念之间的深层联系;然后,对文本中现代的三种不宽容表现展开论述;最后,通过故事叙述者马洛对驶入非洲内河人和船的记忆描述,揭示出人类的文明进程需要以宽容作为法则的主题思想,并深入阐述了《黑暗的心》中不宽容的现代思想根源于恐惧。This paper takes the analysis of the image of Buddha,a rare figure in English literature,as the breakthrough point,analyzes Marlow’s three fingerprints which are closely related to the inner tolerance of Buddha,and discusses three modern intolerance in the novel Heart of Darkness.With the narrator Marlow’s description of the memories of the people and ship sailing into Africa,the paper reveals the theme that the process of human civilization should take the tolerance as its principle,and expounds that the modern thought of"intolerance"in the Heart of Darkness originates from fear.
