Purpose The ischemic stroke is closely related to the biological characteristics of carotid plaque. This study aims to explorethe characteristics of carotid plaque elasticity in patients with ischemic stroke. Materials and Methods Patients with carotidatherosclerotic plaque confirmed in Department of neurology, Tiantan Hospital from November 2016 to May 2017 were retrospectivelyanalyzed. A total of 91 patients with carotid plaque were included by double blind method, including 41 in symptomatic group and 50 inasymptomatic group. All the patients were examined by gray-scale ultrasound and real-time shear wave elastography. Young’s Modulus of plaques were recorded and analyzed. Results The Young’s Modulus in symptomatic group was (38.41±16.30) kPa, lower than that in asymptomatic group [(51.03±21.46) kPa], with statistically significant difference (P〈0.05). Conclusion The Young’s Modulus of plaquein ischemic stroke patients is lower than that in control group, suggesting that the plaque in ischemic stroke patients is softer.
