From 1708 to 1709, Jonathan Swift published some tracts called "Bickerstaff papers," which caused a great disturbance within the London intellectual circle, for its predictions on delicate European political issues were sensational. It generated a series of astrological farces and games of identity deprivation. Those ignored Bickerstaff papers can be regarded as a typical specimen of the violent tense between religion and politics in the early modem England. Looking beyond those narrative forms of procrastination mechanism and self- destruction designs, we can see that, as a High-Church man, Swift has religious concerns over the society's order reconstruction.
