Objective Scaphoid fractures are the most common fractures of the carpus. The diagnoses of scaphoid fractures, after an initial inconclusive X-ray,relay on radiologists' opinions commonly. We try to investigate the value of MRI in occult scaphoid fractures by analyzing the data of patients with wrist injuries. Methods The patients with suspected scaphoid fractures coming to hebei province cangzhou hospital of integrated traditional and western medicine between 2010 and 2015 were performed X-rays and the patients without fractures on initial plain X-ray underwent a MRI scan. We collected and analyzed the data of patients' age, gender, injury causes and radiographic images. Results 54 patients were recruited in this study with the average age of 36. 3 years, including 38 males(70. 4%) and 16 females(29. 6%). 16(29. 6%) out of 54 were diagnosed with fractures and 23 patients(42. 6%) with other injure. Conclusion Results of this study demonstrated a major role that MRI should play in management of suspected scaphoid fractures. We strongly recommend the application of MRI in the early stage of occult scaphoid fractures.
